BTLC Announces Summer Schedule |
|
This summer we are offering a variety of one-day sessions as well as multi-day camps.
Some of our new one-day sessions include:
- Get Moving with Animation
- Making the Most of MS Office
- Exploring Moodle Databases
- Digital Storytelling
- All About Podcasting
- Exploring Elementary Math with Tech Tools
- Exploring Elementary Language Arts with Tech Tools
- Teaching Writing On-Demand
- Tech Tools and Gadgets Galore
Summer camps are 2-day camps and 6-day camps.
They can be taken for university credit through University of Indianapolis and Butler University for reduced tuition rates from both institutions.
2-day camps include:
- Sound! Camera! Action! Mini-camp
- Have you ever wanted to create exciting instructional tools for your
classroom but don’t have the time or the know-how? In this two-day
mini-camp you will learn how to resourcefully use digital pictures, create
movies, produce podcasts, and develop audio recordings to intrigue students
with learning. Cross-curricular ideas that meet teaching and learning
standards will also be shared.
- Family Literacy Backpacks Mini-camp
- Participants will learn about and develop a “Family Literacy Backpacks”
project in this make-it, take-it mini-camp. These thematic Backpacks are
sent home with students to promote literacy at home along with interactive
family learning. Time will be spent looking at materials made by past school
participants in the project, development of goals and a management plan. A
Family Night introduction to the project will also be highlighted. Ideas,
templates and materials to start developing your own thematic Backpacks will
be provided. Plan to develop 1-2 completed Backpacks and plans for further
development of a full project to be implemented in your school.
- What's a Picture Worth? Mini-camp
- If a picture is worth 1000 words, then teachers and students should know how
to easily and correctly use them when delivering content to students and
when modeling knowledge of concepts back to the instructor. Images are
everywhere in our world and they are greatly under-used in today’s
classrooms. In this two-day mini-camp learn how to manipulate digital
images and then take things a step further by discovering how you and your
students can easily create animations that illustrate learning in any
content area.
6-day camps include:
- CampPBL
- Camp curriculum will integrate technology throughout the experience, and
address:
PBL Tenets; Benefits; and Challenges
Planning — Start at the Finish!
Integrating Standards in PBL Instructional Design;
Preparing a PBL Environment;
Managing Successful PBL in the Classroom; and
Assessing Learning in PBL.
During the camp we’ll explore, use and implement readily available
technologies that will help you plan,
manage, implement, document, and assess quality PBL experiences in your
classroom or school. You will leave
with a ready-to-use PBL plan and myriad resources to transform your teaching
to meet 21st century needs
through project-based learning.
- Build Your Own CampMoodle
- All participants will attend a CampPlanner Day during which they will
participate in an assessment of their technology use and knowledge of
Moodle, become familiar with how Moodle can be used in the classroom,
establish a plan to create a Moodle to use in their own classrooms, and
formulate a plan to complete the course. In an effort to achieve that goal,
participants will select five of the following workshop sessions to attend
and will apply the knowledge gained toward the achievement of their goal and
creation of their course.
Options for the additional five days of BYO Moodle Camp:
- Introduction to Moodle: Part 1
- Introduction to Moodle: Part 2
