Family Literacy Backpacks
Buddy Family Backpacks' goal was to promote  collaboration
between teachers and library/media specialists in furthering family
literacy. Teams created theme based backpacks filled with materials
and activities for home use in grades K-8.
The goals for participating schools were to:
- Promote reading, viewing, and the integrated use of home-based
technologies.
- Develop materials that integrated information and higher-order
thinking skills with the Indiana Academic Standards.
- Expand awareness of readily available technologies and info-media
for family learning adventures.
- Encourage collaboration between classroom teachers and school
library media professionals for the benefit of student learning
achievement.
