Giving Them a Choice
Choice-Based Art Curriculum has been successful at these two elementary schools in the Community School Corporation of Southern Hancock County. Students make choices about which art activity they want to independently work on that day. The result has been students who feel empowered and passionate about learning.
Ning: Social Networking
What in the world is a Ning? According to co-founder Gina Bianchi, the word means "peace" in Chinese, but you won't find "Ning" in dictionary.com. Marc Andreessen, who brought us Netscape, is the other founder.

Grant $$ to Promote Multiculturalism
The American Immigration Law Foundation (AILF) offers grants to K-12 classroom teachers who present creative projects revolving around immigration and/or multiculturalism. Particular attention will be directed toward innovative uses of technology, community connections, and science and math. The next application deadline is November 28, 2008. Innovate, Collaborate, Educate - ICE 2009
Make plans now to attend the Indiana Computer Educators' Conference January 27, 28 & 29. Exciting Workshops, Concurrent Sessions, Success Showcase Presentations, Mini-Lab Activities and Vendor Exhibits will be held both Wednesday and Thursday at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.. Visit the ICE website where information regarding the conference, as well as conference presentation opportunities, will be posted.

Cloud Computing
Though defined somewhat differently by different experts, "cloud computing" is basically a service or computer application managed and run outside a particular institution's firewall but that extends the capacity or adds additional capabilities to users at the institution. For example, Google™ has implemented "cloud computing" to provide Google Docs™ to users of the world-wide-web.
