Teaching Tools Available to
Indiana Teachers Indiana Superintendent
of Public Instruction Dr. Suellen Reed recently
announced "We've entered a new era where flexible,
data-driven teaching tools support student learning
throughout the entire school year. By identifying
learning needs early, before they become more serious
and costly to overcome, local schools and the state can
better focus resources and save taxpayers money in the
process."
Starting next fall, educators will have
unlimited access to on-demand checkups of student
progress from kindergarten through grade 8, and will be
able to receive immediate feedback on student mastery of
state academic standards. These state-provided resources
will help Indiana teachers better diagnose student
learning needs, focus instruction accordingly, and
predict whether students are on track to pass ISTEP+ at
the end of the year. For more information on this
pioneering endeavor, see IDOE's web site.

Tech Word: Web 2.0 |
|
Though not a software product, Web 2.0 connotes an
upgrade to the world wide web and typically refers to services
and web resources that foster creativity and collaboration.
Examples might be wikis and social networking sites. Sometimes
called the "Read-Write Web," Web 2.0 resources generally
require interactivity to flourish in a dynamic environment
that supports quick and continuous change.
